Little hoard of cool things that I want to keep links to, or which I think you should check out!
Games and Interactives
BBC's Big Al Game - I used to be OBSESSED with this game as a kid. The BBC's website restructured and got rid of its games when I was a teenager, and I've spent the past decade desperately searching for any trace of it - and here it is!! A game dev who made a fan recreation was contacted by the original designer and given the files, and has now uploaded a port! Time to waste hours on this again...
Metazooa - Like Wordle, but with clades and species! As someone who deals in cladistic trees a lot, this game is so fun, trying to think of what animals will fit in the given group.
Tetris (NES) - An emulator of NES Tetris! I love playing different versions of Tetris, but this one is a copy of the OG.
Robin Exit Interview- Answer questions as the Robins as they leave their role. For such a simple little dialogue-tree game, it has some really interesting responses, and is really fun to play around with if you like the lore of the Batman comics.
Moral Machine - A twist on the trolley problem, where you answer questions on how you think an out-of-control self-driving car should behave in various scenarios. You can test your moral judgements against those of others! Very interesting to play around with.
Stimulation Clicker - What I can only describe as an overstimulation simulator. Weirdly addicting but also kinda stressful.
Cool and Interesting
Jurassic Flubs - A site I was obsessed with as a kid. A compilation of movie mistakes in the original Jurassic Park film!
My Retro TV - Found this and had so much fun flicking through the channels. Has TV for 50s through to 00s, all seems to be American though, unfortunately for me.
Jurassic Systems - Recreation of the computer systems from the scene where Arnold tries to access the hack that Nedry put in place. Ah, ah, ah, you didn't say the magic word!!
Purrli - Cat purr generator with customisation options!! I am absolutely obsessed, I have my own little purr machines now, but this is still absolutely delightful!
Scarfolk Council - Blog of fake, parody council announcements, information packets, and adverts. All modelled on UK documents from the 1970s, I just love the uncanny psuedo-nostalgic aesthetic.
Kryptonian.info - Amateur linguistics project, creating and detailing a Kryptonian language system. Includes a dictionary and a bunch of grammatical rules. Gylav!
Video Collections
Love The PIF - A channel full of PSAs, PIFs, and old adverts.
HelloImAPizza - A channel of PSA and PIF compilations and ranking videos. I just love PSAs so much, and this is a great channel for discovering them.
A/V Geeks 16mm - A channel of old 16mm films. A lot of old educational videos, I just love the aesthetic of them!
Effed Up Movies - A website of, as the name suggests, "effed-up movies". I'm particularly interested in the mondo and documentary films they have available, but as a lover of extreme horror, there's plenty more to explore too.
Jurassic Park Atmospheres - A channel full of ambience tracks set in Jurassic Park. I just find them so soothing - Brachiosaur Paddock with no music is my favourite choice for sleeping to.
MDTV - A channel full of clips from various medical drama TV shows. I have to admit to a soft spot for medical dramas, so I've been binging the hell out of this channel.
